Scope & Ownership

Owns engine accessories and external mechanical systems: oil cooling / pumping / filtration; air cooling / pumping / filtration; the mechanical instrumentation scope; and container mechanicals - the gearbox interface and genset interface. Crossover: systemsfluidspackaging.

Minimum Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

Experience

• 4-8 years in mechanical-systems / accessories or packaging design, or a relevant PhD plus ~2 years
• Lube/scavenge and cooling systems, pumps, filtration; instrumentation integration

Skill Requirements

• Fluid systems and heat exchangers; pumps and filtration
• Sensors and instrumentation integration; packaging and mechanical integration
• Python/Matlab; 2D/3D CAD

Responsibilities

• Take sole ownership of hardware development from clean-sheet through high rate production across multiple components of the Parallax PE-10
• Collaborate with other REs to define interface requirements and manage coupled interactions
• Collaborate with Analysts to derive loads, environments, and response characteristics of your hardware across its operating envelope
• Develop and execute test and qualification plans for your hardware
• Analyze test and qualification data to derive margins and iterate on designs
• Collaborate with Production to develop and execute prototype, low rate, and full rate production of your hardware while balancing performance, cost, and complexity
• Flex across multiple disciplines and scopes as necessary
