General Statement of Duties :
Performs correction related duties relative tothe intake and release of inmates from jail. By way of example, but not limited to, inquiries regarding inmate'spersonal information and history, current financial status, mental and physicalhealth, and the use of screening instruments to identify inmate risk andneeds. Provide information andassistance to citizens as well as the courts by answering telephones andquestions related to bond and court proceedings. Perform related work asrequired.
Supervision Received: Work is performed under the general supervision of the Duty Sergeant orOfficer in Charge (OIC).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: An employee in this class may be called upon to do any or all of thefollowing: These examples do not include all of the tasks which an employee maybe expected to perform.
• Routine clerical work in booking.
• Composes and type reports.
• Process and releases inmates
• Computer entry
• Prepares records, receipts, etc.
• Operates electronic controls.
• Receive and record receipt for monies anddeposits for individual accounts or bond.
• Prepare and maintain required reports andrecords.
• Maintain a daily log of activities for allagencies coming in with new arrests and professionally interacts with inmates.
• Prepare complete booking of all new arrests.
• Manage all phone calls coming into the facility.
• Run LEIN on inmates to check for outstandingwarrants.
• Keep suicidal and medical observation logs oninmates
• Document all bonds and log in the bond book forthe courthouse
• Performs related work as required.
Desirable Education, Experience and/or Qualifications : An employee in this class, upon appointment should have the equivalentof the following training, qualifications and/or experience.
• Graduation from an accredited high school/GEDor equivalent
• Work experience of nine (9) months or one (1)year in a related activity.
• Some knowledge of office practices.
• Command of the English language and spellingskills.
• Reasonable knowledge of sheriff organization, operations,services, procedures and policies
• Knowledge of financial rules, regulations, lawsand procedures
• Knowledge of running LEIN
• Speed, skill, and accuracy in performingclerical and typing tasks
• Ability to prepare accurate written records andreports
• Ability to make arithmetic calculations withspeed and accuracy
• Ability to deal with the public and otheremployees tactfully and courteously
• Capability to work shifts, seven days a week
• Ability to see and hear well
• Ability to effectively handle stress
• Ability to communicate effectively orally andin writing
Working Conditions and Physical Abilities:
• Work is indoors and requires sitting forextended periods
• Must be able to see and notice the needs ofothers
Must be able to hear and speak over the phone
