Insurance Program ManagerThe Weitz Company is hiring an Insurance Program Manager who will manage the successful procurement and day-to-day support of company and project insurance programs for our company and our related entities. This role will serve as a liaison between the Risk Management team members, project teams, insurance companies, and broker partners. The Insurance Program Manager will also provide insurance program guidance to project teams and identify/support related training efforts across the company.The Weitz Company has been Building a Better Way since 1855.

We believe our employees to be our most valuable asset, and we are committed to growing a diverse and inclusive culture that inspires, motivates, and continuously improves.What You'll Do:Manage all aspects of insurance coverage for construction projects including risk assessment, contract insurance review, insurance procurement, and supporting claims team with insurance related information and guidanceManage the renewal process of assigned insurance lines of business which including property, casualty, workers' compensation, automobile, professional, pollution, executive risk, cyber, subcontractor default insurance, and any sponsored controlled insurance programs (CCIP) while ensuring programs meet established company insurance needsSecure project-based insurance at a competitive price and in compliance with contractual insurance requirements, ensure appropriate coverage and/or client directives are met, and bind the insurance upon required management approvalManage and review assigned project specific insurance placement requests, securing adequate application information, collaborating with brokers, obtaining quotes, and addressing related questionsProvide guidance on contract insurance requirements/coverage issues or questions that arise from a project or claim and advise on any client's unique needs or requestsManage and provide guidance on controlled insurance program policies and administrationDevelop processes and procedures for insurance program administrationIdentify insurance training opportunities for employees and develop/lead related training needs as appropriateUnderstand and research company and client needs to drive decision-making while selecting or creating insurance programsAssist with the review of compliance expectations for contract insurance requirementsSupport project teams with guidance related to compliance with subcontractor and supplier insurance requirementsOversee the issuance of insurance certificates and automobile identification cardsMaintain insurance related information and guidelines on company intranetIdentify continuous improvement initiatives; review proposed initiatives and determine path to implementation while supporting compliance requirementsProvide development, mentorship, and coaching to team membersWhat We're Looking For:Education: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, risk management, or insurance is requiredConstruction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) professional designation preferredExperience: 7+ years of experience addressing client insurance needs including programs and day-to-day insurance inquiriesMust hold or be willing to obtain within 6 months of hire an active State of Iowa Insurance Producer License (Property & Casualty)Must hold or be willing to obtain within 3 years of hire CIC or CPCU designationKnowledge of insurance programs within the construction industry is preferredSkills: Ability to thoroughly read, understand, and educate employees on insurance documentsExtremely organized and comfortable balancing multiple projects and initiativesPossess initiative and the ability to make independent decisionsComfortable presenting in front of various groupsHigh level of business acumen, attention to details, and strong negotiation skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to build strong relationships with clients and individuals across the organizationAnalytical thinker with project management skillsTechnology: Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)Ability to learn specific job-related software upon hireAdditional Requirements: Must be able to work in-person at our office in Des Moines 5 days per weekWhat We Offer:Competitive PayRewarding Bonus ProgramComprehensive Benefits Package with Tax-Advantaged HSA and FSA offeringsEmployer-Paid Short- and Long-Term Disability ProgramsEmployer-Paid Life InsuranceGenerous Paid Time Off Provisions401K Retirement Savings Plan with Company MatchTuition ReimbursementFully Paid Parental LeaveVoluntary Products Including: Critical Illness Insurance and Accident InsuranceCorporate Wellness Program with Wellness Time Off and RewardsVisa sponsorship is not available for this position at this time.The Company does not accept unsolicited resumes from search firms or agencies.
