Insurance Defense Litigation Attorney

Lawyers on Demand (LOD), a Consilio company , is assisting a fast-growing law firm in seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Litigation Attorney to join its team on a long‑term hybrid engagement in Phoenix .

Role Details

• Start: ASAP
• Duration: At least 6 months, with potential for extension
• Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
• Location: Hybrid – Phoenix, AZ
• Compensation: $75/hour

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the civil litigation lifecycle for insurance defense matters
• Take and defend depositions
• Draft, propound, and respond to written discovery
• Draft and argue dispositive and other substantive motions, including motions for summary judgment and motions in limine
• Assist with case file review, litigation strategy, and overall case management
• Support attorneys with trial preparation and, for candidates with relevant experience or interest, potentially participate in trials
• Prepare accurate and compliant billing narratives consistent with insurance carrier requirements
• Collaborate with attorneys and legal teams to develop effective defense strategies and advance matters toward resolution

Candidate Qualifications

• 2+ years of litigation experience , with a strong preference for experience in insurance defense litigation
• Experience handling matters involving insurance coverage and/or tort claims , including:
  • Slip‑and‑fall matters
  • Premises liability
  • Other general liability claims
• Experience managing litigation from discovery through dispositive motion practice and trial preparation
• Trial experience is not required , though candidates with trial experience or an interest in gaining courtroom experience may have opportunities to participate in trials
• Demonstrated understanding of insurance defense billing practices , including the ability to prepare clear and acceptable billing narratives
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and case management skills
• Active license to practice law in Arizona , in good standing, is required
• Dual licensure in Arizona and New Mexico is highly preferred
