Insurance Defense Associate, Chicago

I am currently working with a leading law firm in this field, who are actively looking to hire an Insurance Defense Associate to join their growing Chicago office.

Job Description:

They are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Insurance Defense Attorney to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in insurance defense law and litigation, with the ability to effectively represent clients in various legal proceedings.

Responsibilities:

• Handle a caseload of insurance defense matters from inception to resolution.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on complex insurance issues.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Attend court hearings, depositions, arbitrations, and mediations.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and insurance carriers.
• Provide strategic advice and counsel to clients on legal matters.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Illinois state bar and in good standing.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing insurance defense law.
• Strong litigation skills with a proven track record of success.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Prior experience with insurance carriers and familiarity with insurance policies is preferred.
• Anticipated Base Pay range (dependent on experience): $150k-$170k per annum.
