Insurance Coverage Attorney

Sophisticated Coverage Work | $150K–$200K + Bonus | Encino, CA

Are you an insurance coverage attorney who wants sophisticated work, direct client exposure, and a platform where your expertise is genuinely valued?

A highly respected boutique litigation firm is expanding its Insurance Coverage practice and is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Woodland Hills office.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys the analytical side of insurance coverage—digging into complex policies, evaluating difficult coverage questions, developing strategy, and advising sophisticated clients—but also wants the opportunity to litigate coverage disputes when necessary.

You’ll work on challenging matters spanning multiple jurisdictions and a wide variety of underlying claims, while joining an experienced, collaborative team without the bureaucracy of a massive law firm.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Sophisticated insurance coverage matters—not a high-volume claims mill
  • Significant responsibility and direct client interaction
  • Combination of coverage counseling and litigation
  • Exposure to both commercial and personal lines
  • Multi-jurisdictional coverage analysis
  • Diverse and challenging underlying claims
  • Experienced, collaborative attorneys and support staff
  • Quarterly performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Attorneys with a portable book of business are welcomed, but a book is not required
  • Strong benefits, 401(k) match, and paid parking

What You’ll Be Doing

You will advise insurers and other clients on complex insurance coverage issues involving policies such as:

  • Commercial General Liability (CGL)
  • Commercial Auto
  • Homeowners
  • Personal Auto

You’ll analyze policy language, applicable law, exclusions, endorsements, and complex factual scenarios to determine coverage obligations and develop practical strategies for clients.

You’ll also prepare:

  • Coverage opinions
  • Reservation of rights letters
  • Denial letters
  • Legal research and multi-jurisdictional coverage analyses

When Coverage Becomes Litigation

This isn’t strictly a desk‑bound advisory position.

You’ll have the opportunity to represent clients in insurance coverage disputes and manage matters through the litigation lifecycle, including:

  • Pleadings
  • Depositions
  • Motion practice
  • Mediation
  • Trial
  • Appeals, when applicable

Underlying matters can include construction defect, product liability, employment claims, landlord-tenant and habitability disputes, intellectual property, entertainment matters, professional liability, and other complex civil litigation.

What We’re Looking For

We’re interested in attorneys with meaningful experience in one or more of the following:

  • Insurance coverage analysis
  • Policy interpretation
  • Coverage opinions and position letters
  • Commercial and/or personal lines coverage
  • First‑party or third‑party coverage
  • Insurance coverage litigation
  • Insurance bad faith / extra‑contractual liability
  • Multi‑jurisdictional coverage analysis
  • Professional liability coverage
  • Required:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active California Bar membership in good standing
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills
  • Ability to independently manage matters and competing deadlines
  • Ability to meet an annual 1,800-hour billable requirement
  • Trial experience, federal court admissions, admission in additional jurisdictions, and an existing book of business are all valuable—but not required.

Compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and the value you bring to the practice.

In addition, attorneys are eligible for quarterly performance‑based bonuses tied to factors such as billable hours, productivity, quality of work, and client service.

Benefits

  • Medical insurance
  • Voluntary vision insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
  • Voluntary life insurance
  • Paid parking

The Bottom Line

If you’ve built your career in insurance coverage and are ready for a role where you can handle sophisticated matters, advise clients directly, litigate meaningful disputes, and become an important part of a respected practice , this is worth a conversation.

This is a full-time, in-office opportunity.
