Insurance Coverage Attorney
Our Insurance Coverage Practice represents insurance carriers in complex coverage matters involving policy interpretation, coverage analysis, coverage opinions, reservation of rights, declaratory judgment actions, and related insurance coverage litigation.
We are seeking an attorney with experience handling insurance coverage matters on behalf of insurance carriers. The position includes direct client contact, legal analysis of coverage issues, drafting substantive coverage opinions, and litigation involving disputed coverage obligations.
Responsibilities
- Analyze commercial insurance policies and evaluate coverage issues.
- Prepare written coverage opinions and legal analyses.
- Draft reservation of rights letters and other coverage-related correspondence.
- Advise insurance carrier clients regarding duty to defend, duty to indemnify, policy exclusions, and other coverage issues.
- Handle insurance coverage litigation, including declaratory judgment actions.
- Research and brief complex issues involving insurance law and policy interpretation.
- Prepare pleadings, dispositive motions, briefs, and appellate filings.
- Work directly with claims professionals and insurance carrier representatives throughout the life of a matter.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Licensed in IL and in good standing.
- 4+ years of experience representing insurance carriers in insurance coverage matters.
- Experience with insurance coverage analysis, policy interpretation, coverage opinions, reservation of rights, and declaratory judgment litigation.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to independently manage matters while collaborating with attorneys and carrier clients.
