Instrumentation Engineer Sr. (I&C / Instrumentation & Controls)Experience Level: 8+ Years Contract- 3 YearsLocation- Waynesboro, GAClient- Southern Nuclear.Position SummaryThe Instrumentation Engineer Sr. serves as the Responsible Design Engineer (RDE) and Responsible Lead Engineer (RLE) for assigned instrumentation and controls (I&C) design changes.

This role provides technical leadership and oversight of design deliverables while acting as the primary engineering interface between internal disciplines, vendors, and external stakeholders.The ideal candidate brings strong electrical and I&C knowledge, hands-on field experience, and prior exposure to nuclear or highly regulated design environments.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign Leadership & Technical OversightServe as the Responsible Design Engineer and Lead Engineer for assigned instrumentation and control system design changesProvide technical oversight and review of I&C drawings, calculations, specifications, and design documentationEnsure design products meet applicable codes, standards, and engineering requirementsCoordination & Stakeholder InterfaceAct as the primary engineering interface between other engineering disciplines, vendors and suppliers, project stakeholders and plant personnelCoordinate engineering activities to support project schedules and deliverablesField Support & TestingPerform and support site walkdownsSupport Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)Travel as required to support FAT, SAT, and project-related meetingsProject & Cost SupportSupport development of project scope and cost estimatesAssist in managing mid-size to large-scale projects from an engineering deliverables perspectiveSupport issue resolution related to instrumentation design, installation, or field conditionsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution8+ years of related instrumentation or controls engineering experienceSolid electrical and instrumentation knowledgeExperience reading and reviewing electrical and controls drawingsHands-on experience checking cables and wiring in the fieldExperience supporting cost estimating and project scopingStrong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsAbility to build effective working relationships with plant staff, vendors, and project teamsPreferred QualificationsPrior experience in nuclear power generation or regulated utility environmentsDesign experience supporting instrumentation and control systemsExperience working as a Lead or Responsible Design EngineerFamiliarity with plant modification processes, design change packages, and testing activitiesWork EnvironmentCombination of office-based engineering work, plant walkdowns, and vendor facilitiesInteraction with multidisciplinary engineering teams and plant operationsEmphasis on safety, design quality, and regulatory compliance
