Instrument TechnicianThis position builds, maintains and repairs various types of electrical, pneumatic and mechanical equipment. Work includes routine checking of such equipment and troubleshooting failures of the equipment if they occur. May be required to make calculations of electrical and pneumatic systems to assure their proper functioning. Ownership: We see things through, demonstrate accountability, honor commitments, take responsibility for outcomes and demonstrate initiative.Duties and Responsibilities Generally maintains, repairs, tests and inspects a wide variety of equipment common to regulators, odorizes and telemetric systems. Monitors vaults and recording locations, repairs leaks, pumping water and replacing defective parts where required. Installs telemetric and recording gauges at various locations within the system, changing charts and changing batteries in clocks on a schedule. Prepares various daily, periodic or occasional reports on work performed, condition of equipment or status. Factual and accurate reporting is required. Inspects, sets, refills, installs and otherwise adjusts and maintains odorizes.

May be required to compute flow rates and evaluate consumption of odorant. Performs shutdowns of various stations and equipment, coordinating the efforts of construction and Maintenance and System Control. Responsible for maintaining proper truck stock, work material, tools and supplies. All other duties as assigned.Required Education (certifications, licenses) High school diploma or the equivalent. Applicable trade school certificate, required. Must have a technical academic background, which includes satisfactory completion of courses named Physics and Algebra. Valid Class E or chauffeur driver's license, required.Required knowledge, skill and abilities Must pass the validated work test applicable to this position.

Must be physically fit, sound, active and capable of performing heavy manual labor. Must be able to read mechanical or electrical blueprints and sketches. Must be able to use wide variety of hand and automatic tools required for installing and servicing associated equipment and routine test instruments. Must be able to pass medical clearance for respirator use. Must wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required or appropriate.Physical demands, environment and schedule Work at various plants, locations and stations including central office, vaults, customer premises and under various schedules.
