Position Overview

Instructor, Lecturer, or Senior Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (SDSMT). Part‑time, temporary positions for fall 2026 and/or spring 2027 semesters. The role may continue semester‑by‑semester depending on performance, department need, funding, and enrollment.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate mechanical engineering courses in‑person and lead accompanying laboratory sections.
• Ensure effective student learning and engagement in all classes.

Qualifications

• Earned MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or closely related field); PhD preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Prior university or college level teaching experience.
• Engineering experience in industry or government.

Employment Details

Start dates: August 2026 (fall semester) or January 2027 (spring semester). Applicants must be physically located at SDSMT; all courses taught fully in‑person. Positions are non‑benefited and dependent on funding. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation.
