Position Summary: The Instructional Technologist I is the primary point of contact for faculty for academic technology support at the university. This role manages support requests for the Learning Management System (Canvas), educational technology applications, and classroom technology systems; performs limited system administration tasks; and collaborates with the Educational Technology Applications, Instructional Design, and Office of Classroom Technology teams on projects and initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages academic technology support through phone calls and the University's ticketing system, ensuring timely triage, resolution, escalation, and documentation of all requests.
  • Supports faculty and staff in their use of Canvas and all educational technology applications, troubleshooting issues related to LMS functionality, and third-party integrations.
  • Supports the Office of Classroom Technology through remote troubleshooting, classroom AV, and video management issues, and escalates on-site hardware needs to the appropriate team.
  • Provides supplemental support to instructional designers in training efforts.
  • Performs limited system administration tasks, including user account management, access provisioning, and basic platform configuration.
  • Assists with the testing, implementation, and maintenance of new and existing academic technology tools and software updates.
  • Collaborates with the Educational Technology Application, Instructional Design, and Office of Classroom Technology teams on special projects, software evaluations, and process improvements.
  • Creates and maintains knowledge base articles, FAQs, and support documentation for faculty and staff.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Education or related field from an accredited educational institution and 1-3 years of work-related experience.

Preferred qualifications:

1–3 years of experience in a higher education, IT, or instructional technology environment; help desk or technical support experience preferred.

Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (Canvas preferred) and common educational technology tools.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to support non-technical users professionally.

Demonstrated troubleshooting ability, flexibility, and capacity to manage multiple priorities.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.
