BASIC PURPOSE
In collaboration with others in the College community, design and develop rich learning environments to provide an interactive and engaging learning experience. In addition, promote the use of instructional technologies, design, learning practices, and management of resources through various methods with a focus on pedagogical and andragogical enhancements and the success of the students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work in collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs), the instructional team, and other areas of the College to design, update, and maintain courses; create and review course materials and assessments; ensure ADA and copyright compliance.
  • Plan, create, coordinate, and/or demonstrate instructional design and technology applications: e.g., through technical and non-technical training sessions, special topic workshops: e.g., use of technology, instructional design, strategy, and course analytics; and arrange and schedule new technology demonstrations and workshops by vendors
  • Collaborate with the team and other areas of the College to encourage innovation in pedagogy, process improvements, and the College's strategic vision.
  • Develop and deliver multimedia training and support materials; e.g., presentations, training tutorial videos, webinars
  • Provide level 2 support when called upon from the Help Desk; e.g., answering help desk tickets, writing Knowledge Base articles, training on Montgomery County Community Colleges' tools and processes for members of the institutional community, and orientations
  • Evaluate new learning technologies and introduce creative ways to incorporate them into practices, procedures, and overall process improvements for the community
  • Prepare reports and communicate frequently about goals, objectives, projects, etc. through quarterly reports, workflow analyses, project/initiative collaborations, and report-outs from special ad hoc committees. Maintain project files and archives on major initiatives. Seek transparency throughout the development process. (as required).
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Education/ Training/ Work Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in instructional design preferred.
  • Experience in technology training preferred.
  • Three years' higher education experience preferred.
Skills:
  • Practical knowledge of current instructional theories, principles, and national standards for the delivery of online education, face-to-face, and hybrid courses, specifically in the areas of learning object creation and learning outcomes and their relationships.
  • Knowledge of current technologies in various hardware and software applications, such as information processing, database management, content management systems, spreadsheet analysis, and graphics.
  • Strong self-starter with the ability to manage time, resources, and projects. Ability to be agile and maintain attention to detail and priorities.
  • Team player able to work in a collaborative environment and independently
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Forward thinking, innovative, and student-focused.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of learning management systems and how to lay out courses and training for all delivery methods, preferably Canvas
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Windows and Apple OS
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
  • Experience with interactive, lecture capture, and related tools
  • Working knowledge of ADA compliance
  • Building and delivering professional development sessions
