Coordinates the instructional design servicesfor HSU's online programs. Instructional designer ensures pedagogical anddesign excellence in all online courses. Designsand develops multimedia instructional materials for computer-based training,and other delivery platforms by performing the following duties.
Oversee theinstructional design process of the Department of Online Education.
Coordinate coursedesign and implementation of effective pedagogy in the development of thehighest quality online courses.
Coordinate all coursereview processes to ensure online courses satisfy the Hardin-Simmons Universitycourse development rubric, accessibility standards, quality expectations, andapplicable distance education requirements.
Practices aninstructional design model that facilitates the cohort process, equippingfaculty to design and develop high-quality, compliant courses while fosteringcommunities of inquiry and practice and scaling support to meet varying instructionaldesign needs.
Communicatesinstructional design processes, timelines, and deadlines in advance through appropriate communication channels.
Serves as our learningmanagement system (LMS) liaison and informs the department of online educationand IT of needs and processes necessary to effectively implement and supportour LMS.
Develops and maintainstemplates, resources, and design aids that promote consistency and efficiency.
Facilitates theresolution, recording, and tracking of our help desk ticket system.
Proactively providesupdates, information, and awareness of instructional design activity.
Develops and enactsshort and long-term goals for the instructional design processes.
Keeps current oninstructional design trends, practices, and state-of-the-art processes toensure the highest quality instructional design for Hardin-Simmons University.
Identifiesand plans appropriate instructional design strategies and objectives based onanalysis of tasks, learners, and subject matter.
Determines content sequence and createscontent outlines and treatment approaches for written, visual, and audiocontent.
Conducts task analyses and determinesperformance criteria.
Develops evaluation strategies andinstruments.
Coordinates with instructional writersduring preliminary project discussions to ensure appropriate contentdevelopment.
Advises and assists video and artproduction staff, project editors, vendors, authors, and subject matterexperts, ensuring team conformance with instructional objectives and design.
Designs and develops related materialssuch as workbooks, manuals, and instructor guides.
Monitor federal, state, accreditation, and institutionalrequirements related to distance education and make recommendations to ensureongoing compliance and instructional excellence.
Provide training, resources, consultation, and coursereview support to faculty related to online teaching best practices,accessibility, course quality standards, and Regular and SubstantiveInteraction (RSI) requirements.
