Instructional Coach – Math (Elyria High School)
The Instructional Coach (Math) is a non-evaluative, peer-based teacher leader responsible for driving measurable improvement in student math achievement. The position focuses on coaching math teachers, building professional capacity of teachers, and using high quality student data to close achievement gaps. This role accelerates math achievement for students in designated Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI), Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI), or Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI) schools.

Reports To: Building Principal / Director of Federal Programs & School Improvement
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead professional learning related to Mathematics in facilitating data-informed decision-making cycles using Ohio State Test (OST) end-of-course results, benchmark data, and formative assessments.
- Partner with high school math teachers to implement evidence-based instructional strategies.
- Assist teachers in developing targeted intervention and acceleration strategies for students scoring below proficient in Algebra I and Geometry.
- Provide job-embedded, non-evaluative coaching through the cycle of planning, modeling, co-teaching, observing, and providing actionable feedback.
- Assist math teachers in aligning daily instruction with Ohio's Learning Standards for Mathematics.
- Support teachers in integrating high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) and educational technology effectively in the math classroom.
- Maintain records of coaching activities, contact hours, and meeting artifacts
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Ohio Teaching Certificate/License as a licensed Mathematics teacher or specialist, preferably in grades 7-12.
