DESCRIPTION:
Under direct supervision of a teacher, the Instructional Assistant assists the teacher in implementing the daily educational program.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Ohio Department of Education Educational Aide license or ability to obtain license
KSAs:
• Knowledge of the Operating Standards for Ohio's Schools Serving Children with Disabilities
• Knowledge of classroom management techniques
• Knowledge of CPI
• Knowledge of CPR and First Aid
• Ability to recognize and react appropriately to individual needs of students
• Ability to establish effective relationships with students with a wide range of physical and intellectual capabilities
• Ability to deal effectively with student behavior problems
• Ability to restrain students over 150 lbs.
• Ability to use technology as both a productivity tool and as a method of communication; proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office
• Ability to maintain accurate student records • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA requirements
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, co-workers, administrators, and public
• Ability to work with team to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate program progress and implement changes
