Position Summary
We are seeking two dedicated and compassionate Special Education Assistants to join our team.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Support & Adaptation

• Lesson Adaptation: Modify and adapt classroom materials and lessons under the guidance of the lead teacher to align with each student's specific learning level and goals (IEPs).
• Goal Tracking: Help monitor and support students in reaching their individualized academic and developmental benchmarks.

Behavioral & Physical Care

• Behavior Management: Utilize established behavioral plans to safely and constructively manage challenging behaviors.
• Daily Physical Care: Assist students with daily living activities and physical care needs as required.

Collaboration & Communication

• Team Collaboration: Partner closely with special education teachers, therapists, and school administration to implement student support plans.
• Family Partnerships: Maintain open, proactive, and positive communication with families to ensure a cohesive and supportive bridge between home and school.

Must complete Basic Training (5 hours) provided by JSD Special Education Department. Training must be completed within one week of hire as a condition of employment.
Additional training is available through the Special Education department allowing the employee to increase to lane 4 upon completion.
