Holland Public Schools is located in Holland, Michigan. The district has four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school and has an enrollment of approximately 3000 students. We offer a dual language immersion program in Spanish in grades K-8. Title: Instructional Assistant - Grade Level (Part-Time)
Location: Jefferson Elementary
Terms: School-Year/ Part-Time (29 hours/ week)
Hours: 6 hours/ day (M, T, Th, F); 5 hours/ day (W)
Compensation: $16.64 - $20.09/ hour (IA - Level 1)

OVERVIEW: Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, to assist certified professional staff with students in the classroom to meet instructional goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
  • Maintain records and confidentiality.
  • Ability to carry out instructions and reinforce lesson plans.
  • Provide instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of students
  • Assist teacher with classroom management and general supervision of the class
  • Assist with administrative duties such as setting up equipment and preparing materials
  • Intermediate competency in programs, such as: Google Docs, Google Sheets, Microsoft Office, and other office-specific programs.
  • Ability to communicate to members externally and internally.
  • Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, accurately enter data; establish facts, draw valid conclusions using judgment, and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to adhere to applicable organizational policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in grammar, writing, mathematical skills, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback and implement corrections.
  • Thorough knowledge and adherence to follow safety policies, procedures and practices.
  • Ability to follow, read, understand, and abide by all organizational policy and procedures.
  • Ability to follow state, federal, and local law, and all other policies and procedures that do not fall under the listed responsibilities within this document.
  • Demonstrated punctuality and timely completion of assignments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Positive attitude, an ability to solve problems effectively.
  • Support District Initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate the following (these requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required):
  • Must meet educational requirements of either 60 college credits or successful completion of State approved tests.
  • Preference given to candidates who are bilingual.
  • Prior experience working with special needs children is desirable.
  • Ability to carry out instructions and follow provided lesson plans and responsibilities.
  • Ability to be punctual and maintain regular attendance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to work in a typical school setting, use standard office equipment, read printed materials and a computer screen, and communicate in person or over the telephone. Candidates must have a valid driver's license to travel between district buildings.
