Instructional Assistant Early Childhood Special Ed

Summary:
The Instructional Assistant for Early Childhood Special Education will work closely with the classroom teacher to provide support to students with special needs in an inclusive classroom setting. This is a full-time position that will be located at Locust Grove Elementary.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the teacher in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Work with students one-on-one or in small groups to provide academic and behavioral support
- Help students with daily living tasks such as toileting, feeding, and dressing
- Assist with classroom management and behavior interventions
- Collaborate with the teacher and other school staff to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students
- Attend trainings and professional development opportunities as required by the school district
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with young children with special needs preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other school staff
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with physical tasks such as lifting and positioning students with special needs
- Must pass a background check
