Instructional Assistant Behavior Support (Golden Gate, Richmond)

Crisis Intervention Specialist

Under general supervision, provides crisis intervention and consultative strategies to students, teachers, instructional assistants, and other staff as planned by the Principal; provide support, monitoring, and training using behavior management techniques, intervention strategies, de-escalation techniques, anger management and problem solving for students with behavioral challenges; observes, monitors, and records student behavior; and performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent.

• Two (2) years of college level coursework in child development or related field (a written proficiency test may be required for applicants that do not meet the post high school graduation or AA requirements)

• Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience working with children with special education needs who have cognitive, emotional disabilities in an organized setting.

• Bilingual skills may be required. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory Physical Strength Testing results.

• Experience with student behavior management and attendance support. Work with Middle School, High School and Independent Study. Licenses and Certifications:

• Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency may be required for certain departments.

• Successfully complete Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training by the end of probationary period and renew annually.
