After School Program AssistantUnder the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of general education and/or special education students in a classroom or other learning environment and then transition into the After School Program; to perform a variety of instructional and clerical duties; and supervise students in a classroom, cafeteria or on the playground. As the After School Program Assistant, provide homework assistance, fun learning activities that are curriculum driven and enrichment activities such as sports, games, arts, music, crafts, drama and dance for students in the After School Program.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of special education students in a classroom environment; monitor and oversee student drills, practices and assignments in various subjects; confer with the teacher concerning instructional activities and materials to meet student needs; accompany and assist students in mainstreamed classes as required.Work year will follow School District calendar plus 30 additional Extended Learning Opportunity Program days 8.0 hours/day, 1/2-hour non-paid lunch (1 FTE) Monday – Friday 9:30am-6:00pmMinimum Qualifications:At least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education (college level with 45 units) OR Obtained an associate's (or higher) degree OR Paraprofessional requirements with a CODESP certification or No Child Left Behind (NCLB) certification
