Inspector PackerFull time Americas - North America - United States - Solvay - RPSNA Syracuse NYThe Inspector Packer plays a key role in ensuring customer satisfaction, product quality, and efficient production flow. This position is responsible for inspecting plastic products for defects, packaging finished goods, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting continuous production operations within a clean and safe manufacturing environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Inspection & Quality· Inspect plastic parts for defects such as contamination, deformities, or inconsistencies.· Ensure that only high-quality products are packaged and shipped.· Monitor quality throughout production runs and communicate issues promptly.· Accurately complete production forms, labels, part counts, and other required documentation.Packaging & Production Support· Package finished products according to customer and company specifications.· Safely operate basic tools and equipment to prepare boxes and materials for palletizing.· Maintain continuous production flow by monitoring machine output and packaging parts efficiently.· Assist Machine Operators and production staff to maintain throughput and reduce downtime.Safety, Compliance & Cleanliness· Follow all Amcor safety procedures, including PPE, machine guarding, and hazard reporting.· Adhere to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, and food safety standards.· Keep the work area clean by removing scrap, wiping down equipment, and organizing materials.· Maintain safe work habits and immediately report unsafe conditions or near-misses.Teamwork & Additional Duties· Communicate clearly with team members about quality concerns, machine behavior, or material shortages.· Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervision or leadership.· Support production goals by maintaining efficiency and cooperating with team members across shifts.Qualifications· High school diploma or GED preferred.· Previous manufacturing, inspection, or packaging experience is helpful but not required.· Strong attention to detail and ability to spot defects quickly.· Ability to follow written procedures, safety rules, and documentation standards.· Basic math and counting skills for production paperwork.Inspector Packer — Physical Demands (Entry / Foundational)Posture & Movement· Standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift (typically 8–12 hours).· Repetitive arm and hand motions required for inspecting, sorting, and packing parts.· Bending, reaching, and stooping to retrieve parts, handle packaging materials, and clear work areas.· Continuous lifting of boxes, trays, or materials typically up to 25–35 lbs; occasional lifts up to 40 lbs depending on product. Lifting can be overhead.· Manual dexterity to handle small plastic parts, perform visual inspections, and operate basic hand tools safely.· Ability to push or pull carts or pallets with moderate force using manual handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks), if required for the workstation.Sensory Requirements· Strong visual acuity for detecting product defects such as contamination, flash, deformities, or discoloration.· Hearing ability to recognize alarms, machine sounds, and verbal instructions in an industrial environment.· Attention to detail and sustained focus for quality checks and accurate documentation.Work EnvironmentThe Inspector Packer works in a plastics manufacturing plant, which includes the following environmental conditions:Manufacturing Floor Environment· Exposure to moderate to high noise levels generated by molding and packaging equipment (hearing protection provided and required).· Warm temperatures near molding machines and equipment; temperatures may vary by season or production area.· Occasional exposure to odors associated with plastic resin processing, all within permissible safety limits.· Fast-paced, high-volume production setting requiring continuous workflow and attention to machine output.Safety & Compliance· Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as:o Safety glasseso Cut-resistant gloveso Hearing protectiono Safety shoes· Must follow GMP, HACCP, Food Safety, and general plant safety standards at all times.· Work areas must be kept clean, organized, and free of hazards to support safe and efficient operations.Schedule· Shifts/overtime: Ability to work 12-hour rotating shift, overtime, weekends, and nights based on production demand.Hourly StatementThe starting rate of pay for this position is expected to be $19.50; however, starting pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience between $19.50 and $23.00.
