ICE is adding a MEI Inspector/Engineer to our growing team in Florida.POSITION SUMMARYThis position is responsible for the inspection of maintenance and/or construction projects.EDUCATIONHigh school graduate or equivalentOr a Civil Engineering degree with the ability to earn additional required qualifications within one year.

(Engineer Intern classification requires E.I.T. certificate.)EXPERIENCE:For personnel with engineering, engineering technology, and construction management degrees: One (1) year of CEI/MEI experience in construction of roadway or bridge structuresFor personnel without engineering, engineering technology or construction management degrees: Two (2) years of CEI/MEI experience in roadway or bridge constructionQUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:FDOT Advanced MOTCTQP Concrete Field Technician Level ICTQP Asphalt Roadway Level ICTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level ICTQP Pile Driving InspectionCTQP Drilled Shaft InspectionCTQP Final Estimates Level INuclear Radiation SafetyValid Driver's license with safe driving recordUS Resident or Green Card Holder onlyABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIESAbility to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing).Responsible for performing assignments in assisting Senior Inspector in the performance of their duties. Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress.Civil Engineering graduates must obtain certifications within the first year of working as an inspector or Engineer Intern.Responsible for familiarity with the Department's Procedures covering the project related duties as stated above and proficient in the computer programs necessary to perform those duties.Responsible for exercising independent judgment in planning work details and making technical decisions related to field aspects of the projectResponsible for performing complex assignments in field surveying and construction layout, marking, and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThis position requires minimal lifting of up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis. The inspector must be able to travel and tour work sites under adverse environmental conditions not limited to loud noise levels, high dust and dirt, and extreme temperature.

The inspector must be able to visually examine construction materials and finished structures.EXPECTED HOURS OF WORKThis position will be a full-time position. The inspector may be required to work some nights and weekends based on the project construction schedule.
