Inside Plant Technician

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, operation, maintenance, and engineering tasks related to cable trays, copper, coax, and fiber cables within Telecommunication Rooms (TRs) and other designated areas.
  • Conduct on-site surveys and provide detailed reports on survey findings and upcoming plans.
  • Develop and implement maintenance plans to address infrastructure corrections.
  • Ensure compliance with ANSI/TIA/EIA standards and other relevant industry guidelines.
  • Maintain records and configuration management of all decommissioning activities.
  • Perform quality assurance checks before equipment/installation is released for customer connectivity.
  • Adhere to safety procedures for all maintenance, installation, and cleanup activities within TRs and designated areas.
  • Report all critical incidents and safety concerns to appropriate personnel promptly.
  • Coordinate installation and maintenance of outside plant infrastructure, including manholes, handholes, and OSP facilities.
  • Provide daily updates, conduct meetings, and interface with vendors and utility officials as necessary.
  • Process permits for WHS and state/local government regulations and track approvals/denials.
  • Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies for outside plant projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Provide point-to-point dark fiber leases for Government facilities in the NCR region.
  • Perform fiber restoration, splicing, testing, and routine maintenance as required.
  • Ensure compliance with lease agreements and provide timely support for any service disruptions.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 2-5 years' experience
  • Certifications: Data Cabling Installer (DCI) certification, Fiber Optics Installer (FOIC) certification
  • Clearance: Must possess Top Secret/SCI clearance

Work schedule: Schedule is day shift Monday - Friday. May be requested to work evenings and weekends to meet program and contract needs.

Amount of Travel: Less than 10%

The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Wage information target salary range: $48,000 - $125,000.
