The Division of Psychiatry at Phoenix Children’s is seeking a full-time Inpatient Pediatric Psychiatrist
In this role, you’ll join a dedicated team providing top‑tier care to patients and families, working 7 days on, followed by 7 days off – a balanced schedule that supports professional growth and personal well‑being.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment:
- Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations of children and adolescents admitted to the inpatient unit.
- Collaborate with medical, therapy, and nursing teams to review patient histories and conduct diagnostic assessments.
- Treatment Planning:
- Develop individualized treatment plans, incorporating medication management, psychotherapy, and family involvement.
- Address co‑occurring medical and psychiatric conditions.
- Intervention and Management:
- Provide crisis intervention for patients experiencing acute episodes.
- Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and adjust treatment as needed.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with mental health therapists, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care.
- Participate in case reviews and team meetings to ensure cohesive treatment planning.
- Communicate with families to educate them on the child’s diagnosis and treatment plan.
- Offer guidance on how families can support recovery and well‑being.
- Training and Education:
- Provide mentorship or supervision to fellows, residents, and medical students.
- Participate in continuing education to stay current on pediatric psychiatry advancements.
Education & Licensure
- Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of a residency in psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry.
- Board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (or eligibility to become certified).
- Valid state medical license to practice psychiatry.
