Overview
These roles are responsible for the administration, preparation, dispensing, and management of medications and other health products to ensure safe and effective patient care. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians work in various settings, including pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, and research facilities.
Responsibilities
- Dispense medications, provide drug therapy consultations, and ensure the safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient treatment plans and offer medication counseling.
- Oversee the preparation and distribution of medications in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Diagnose, treat, and care for patients; participate in face‑to‑face interactions; design and implement clinical programs, policies, and services using specialized knowledge and skills.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy.
- Experience: No experience required; PGY‑1 residency or equivalent clinical experience preferred.
- Licensure: Virginia State Board of Pharmacy License within 60 days of hire; American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
- Knowledge: Basic understanding of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience, vocational or technical education.
- Work Under Supervision: Moderate supervision; routine problems with occasional need for interpretation or deviation from standard procedures.
Physical Demands
Sitting for prolonged periods; repetitive typing; proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull items less than 20 lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
Compensation
The pay range for this role is $64.37–$87.33 hourly. Compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, experience, and/or education.
