Inpatient Medical Surgical Advanced Practice Nurse Specialist
Job Summary
Leverages in depth knowledge of one or more clinical specialty areas to effectively manage highly complex inpatient medical surgical care. Includes multidisciplinary collaboration that identifies and prioritizes nursing care needs for a population of inpatient medical surgical patients. Develops, implements and evaluates new models of practice across the continuum of care. Leads the implementation of new policies and procedures across all nursing units. Collaborates with other clinical nurse specialists and health system leadership to lead change and develop evidence-based models of practice.

Qualifications
- Possession of valid California RN and Advanced Practice license (Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner)
- DEA Certificate within 3 months of hire (if NP licensed)
- National Board Certification in an aligned specialty with the practice area (if NP)
- AHA BLS CPR or UC Davis Health CPR
- Master's, DNP or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
- One year or greater clinical experience in the care of adult acute care medical surgical patients
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Judgement skills to meet patient needs
- Self‑direction and organizational skills for an independent role
- Ability to apply theories and concepts to clinical practice
- Resilience to personal stress experienced by healthcare team members
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years as CNS or NP in adult acute care medical surgical patients
