Inpatient Gastroenterology - Full Time PA

Job Summary

We are seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) to support our inpatient Gastroenterology and Hepatology service. This hospital-based role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care through inpatient consults, rounding, and collaborative treatment planning.

Location & Schedule

Department: 02130 HC Rome MOB 1825 Martha Berry Blvd – Gastroenterology

Locations:

• Advent Redmond Regional Medical Center – 501 Redmond Rd., Rome, GA 30165
• Atrium Floyd Medical Center – 304 Turner McCall Blvd., Rome, GA 30165

Schedule: Full-time, hospital-based, primarily weekday daytime hours with a typical start time of 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. Ninety‑minute call duties rotate weekly:

• Week 1: Inpatient coverage with designated call day
• Week 2: Inpatient coverage with weekend call responsibilities
• Week 3: Inpatient coverage (rounding, consults, care coordination)
• Week 4: Inpatient coverage with designated call day
• Week 5: Inpatient coverage with designated call day

Responsibilities

• Conduct inpatient consults and comprehensive patient histories and assessments.
• Daily rounding on hospitalized adult patients, with occasional pediatric consults.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
• Manage consults and coordinate care, including weekend and holiday rounding as assigned.
• Support outpatient clinic care as needed.

Scope of Practice

• Perform comprehensive patient histories and assessments.
• Daily rounding on hospitalized patients.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
• Manage consults and coordinate care.
• Participate in weekend and holiday rounding as assigned.
• Support outpatient clinic care as needed.

Training & Support

• Structured onboarding program including physician shadowing, inpatient workflow orientation, and ongoing mentorship.
• Gradual increase in patient care responsibilities with competency-based progression.
• Performance evaluations at 90 days, 6 months, and annually.

Requirements

• Licensed Physician Assistant.
• DEA license required.

Clinical Knowledge

• Understanding of pathophysiology, patient presentation, and differential diagnosis.

• Knowledge of GI conditions and treatment preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $47.50 – $71.25 per hour (based on qualifications, skills, and experience).
