Printpack is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Ink Technician for the Converting plant in Grand Prairie, TX. The Ink Technician is responsible for preparing, blending, and managing inks, primers, and adhesives to support printing operations.

This position requires expertise in color matching, formulation, and inventory management while ensuring compliance with safety protocols and quality standards. This position reports to the Shift Supervisor / Prepress Supervisor. This will be a 3rd shift position Sun-Thurs 11pm-7am with the potential to transition into a rotating 3/2 Schedule from 7pm-7am.Key Responsibilities:Prepare and blend raw materials for ink, primer, and adhesive formulationFormulate and tone colors for press runsMaintain press ink supply and prepare materials for upcoming jobsManage ink inventory and related materialsProcess returned inks and track solvent usageInput data into PRISM systemHandle, store, and label hazardous materialsSupport press changeoversMaintain cleanliness of work areaOperate equipment including lift trucks and pallet jacksContribute to waste reduction initiativesOther duties as assignedEducation & Experience:2 years ink technician experience preferredRequired Skills:Proficiency in color matching and blending (must pass Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Color Vision Test)Knowledge of PRISM, SPEC, and X-RITE systemsStrong mathematical and analytical abilitiesExcellent attention to detailComputer literacy (Microsoft Office, Google Apps)Forklift certification (or ability to obtain)Understanding of safety protocolsStrong communication skillsTime management and organizational abilitiesAdditional Requirements:Must be 18 years of ageMust pass pre-employment assessmentDrug screening requiredBackground check requiredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Ink formulation and color theorySafety protocols for handling hazardous materialsQuality control proceduresInventory management principlesComputer systems and softwareColor matching and blendingMathematical calculationsData entry and record keepingProblem-solvingTime managementFood safety standardsAnalytical thinkingTeam collaborationEffective communicationPhysical Demands:The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to:Lifting up to 50 poundsMust be able to climb, kneel, bend, squat, stoop and reachMust be able to push & pullMust be able to stand and walk for extended periods of timeColor vision discrimination (must pass Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Color test)Manual dexterity for operating equipmentAbility to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)Forklift certification or ability to obtain forklift and pallet jacksWork Conditions:Noise levels above 85 dBOperation of complex machinerySolvents, fumes and inksVariable temperaturesMust be able to work flexible shiftsMay require overtime, weekends, and holidays.An additional $2.50/hr premium for NIGHT Shift only between the hours of 7pm-7am.
