Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and business-savvy Infusion Department Manager to lead and oversee daily operations of our infusion services. This role is pivotal in managing the clinical and administrative functions of the infusion department while driving operational excellence and financial performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing buy-and-bill medication workflows, inventory and supply chain oversight, and a proven track record in optimizing department efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight

Lead daily operations of the infusion department, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

Develop, implement, and monitor protocols, policies, and procedures that align with clinical and business objectives.

Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, and pharmacy teams to streamline workflows and optimize scheduling, throughput, and resource utilization.

Business & Financial Management

Manage infusion department budget, including forecasting, cost control, and revenue cycle oversight.

Monitor key financial performance indicators (KPIs), identify variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.

Partner with billing and revenue cycle teams to ensure appropriate coding, reimbursement, and collections for infusion services.

Buy-and-Bill & Inventory Management

Oversee all aspects of buy-and-bill medications including procurement, charge capture, payer authorization, and reimbursement monitoring.

Maintain accurate inventory tracking systems for medications and supplies, minimizing waste and ensuring compliance with storage and handling requirements.

Collaborate with suppliers and purchasing teams to negotiate pricing and ensure cost-effective purchasing strategies.

Supervise and support infusion nursing and administrative staff, including hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and ongoing development.

Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards related to infusion services.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient satisfaction efforts.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, nursing, or related field required; equivalent job experience may be accepted.

Minimum of 3–5 years of leadership experience in an infusion center or outpatient specialty clinic, with strong emphasis on business and financial operations.

Demonstrated knowledge of buy-and-bill medication processes, payer reimbursement models, and inventory control systems.

Experience with EHR systems; Epic experience a plus.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial reports and operational metrics.

Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in rheumatology, neurology, oncology, or specialty infusion environments.

Familiarity with Medicare and commercial payer policies related to infusion billing.

This position operates in a clinical setting and may require periodic onsite oversight of infusion services. Standard business hours with occasional extended hours to meet departmental needs.
