Insight Global is seeking a Solutions Architect to join one of our top Fortune 250 manufacturing clients. This is a senior, hands-on infrastructure role focused on the continued modernization, automation, and evolution of a large enterprise private cloud and data center environment.
This individual will help define infrastructure strategy, develop technical roadmaps, and design scalable, reliable solutions across a primarily VMware and Windows-based environment. The Solutions Architect will assess the current infrastructure, identify opportunities for modernization and automation, and provide technical leadership around virtualization, compute, storage, networking, and infrastructure platforms.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in enterprise infrastructure and VMware technologies and has progressed beyond day-to-day administration into engineering, architecture, technical leadership, or solution design. Candidates do not need experience with every technology in the environment, but should be comfortable learning new platforms and solving complex infrastructure challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Design scalable, resilient, and secure infrastructure and private cloud solutions
- Develop technical roadmaps and future-state architecture for enterprise infrastructure platforms
- Evaluate existing VMware and Windows environments and recommend modernization opportunities
- Lead or support major infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and platform improvements
- Provide architectural guidance across virtualization, compute, storage, networking, and related technologies
- Improve operational efficiency through scripting, automation, and Infrastructure as Code practices
- Establish infrastructure standards, best practices, and reusable architectural patterns
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and virtualization issues
- Partner with engineering, operations, security, application, and business teams to deliver enterprise solutions
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions based on scalability, reliability, security, and business requirements
- Serve as a technical leader and mentor to infrastructure engineering and operations teams
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, virtualization, or related areas
- Strong experience supporting, engineering, or architecting VMware environments
- Experience with technologies such as vSphere, ESXi, and/or vCenter
- Strong experience with Windows Server and enterprise Windows environments
- Experience designing or implementing infrastructure solutions in large, complex environments
- Hands-on experience with automation, scripting, or Infrastructure as Code
- Experience with tools such as PowerShell, PowerCLI, Terraform, Ansible, VMware automation tools, or similar technologies
- Experience leading or contributing to infrastructure upgrades, migrations, modernization initiatives, or technical roadmaps
- Ability to operate at both the architectural/design level and the hands-on technical level
- Bachelor's degree
