Job Scheduling Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented Job Scheduling Specialist to support internal users with secure file movement, Unix system maintenance, and automated job orchestration. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with FileZilla, PuTTY, Control-M, and SAP, ensuring that data is transferred reliably, permissions are correctly set, and batch jobs are executed per business requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • File Transfer (FileZilla) - Transfer files between Linux/Unix servers using SFTP/FTP protocols.
  • Download files for distribution to end-users and upload user-provided files to appropriate directories.
  • Create and maintain directory structures (filepaths) to meet project standards.
  • Modify Unix file permissions (chmod, chown) to enforce security policies.
  • Update and edit Unix configuration or data files as directed.
  • Unix Administration (PuTTY) - Extract compressed archives (unzip, tar, gzip) on remote systems.
  • Rename files and directories to conform to naming conventions.
  • Convert Windows line endings to Unix format.
  • Reset or change passwords for Unix user IDs in accordance with security guidelines.
  • Job Scheduling (Control-M and SAP) - Load new batch jobs submitted by users into the Control-M environment.
  • Initiate job runs on demand and monitor for successful completion.
  • Place jobs on hold, modify schedules, or cancel jobs per user requests.
  • Provide status updates and troubleshooting assistance for job failures.
  • General Support - Document procedures, file paths, and job configurations in the knowledge base.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours file transfer or job-execution issues.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, developers, and business analysts to ensure data integrity and timely delivery.

Physical & Work Environment - Fully Remote - Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional after-hours support.
