Position Title: IT Business Partner – Mission Services and TempWork

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Reports To: Chief Information Officer

Purpose Of The Role

The IT Business Partner (ITBP) serves as a critical partner with Mission Services and TempWork program leadership to ensure the availability, adequacy and efficiency of technology that enables Mission and TempWork programs to sustain and grow 50+ programs and the TempWork businesses. The ITBP partners with Mission Services and TempWork leadership to define opportunities and prioritize technologically enabled projects based on criteria such as ROI, productivity and compliance. This is a single contributor role that must be able to influence across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Listening, Evaluating & Translating Business Needs to Potential Technology Solutions: translate complex business needs into actionable IT plans and business cases to support investments.
  • Consult with Mission program and TempWork leadership to determine system functional specifications and partner with management teams to meet objectives for current and new initiatives.
  • Collaborate with diverse business units and government entities in support of Mission Programs and TempWork.
  • Portfolio & Project Management: develop project plans and budgets, lead project meetings, identify and manage risks, and ensure IT solutions are deployed effectively, while maintaining quality, schedule and budget in compliance with policies.
  • Influence and guide projects to successful outcomes; evaluate spaces for IT infrastructure considerations and potential investments.
  • Oversee end-to-end project delivery from inception to post-implementation, including business analysis and recommendations.
  • Create and present data, reports, and dashboards to monitor project performance for senior management.
  • Manage select vendors and contracts, evaluating performance and service quality.
  • Develop and implement portfolio management approaches and plan product phase-in/phase-out to minimize gaps and overlaps.
  • Business Process & Continuous Improvement: drive a culture of continuous improvement and partner with leadership, consultants, and colleagues to identify opportunities to improve processes and services using technology where appropriate.
  • Provide creative solutions to enhance workflow efficiencies using current or emerging technologies.
  • Customer Service Mindset: plan and execute projects with a customer-centric approach; present IT performance data in a digestible format for non-IT professionals; improve staff training and establish operational procedures to optimize technology use.
  • Coordinate with Managed Service Provider (MSP) to ensure infrastructure and technology support Mission and TempWork units, including adherence to SLAs.
  • Maintain oversight of technology infrastructure for Mission programs and TempWork units in collaboration with the GW IT Department and MSP.
  • Policy, Compliance and Budgets: review IT policies to align with program needs and audit requirements; participate in budgeting and grant-related technology planning; ensure compliance with government regulations and data management practices; manage technology aspects of program initiation and sunsetting processes.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) and/or 5+ years of IT and business/industry work experience
  • At least 3 years of IT business partnering experience or 5 years in strategic planning and/or project portfolio execution, or equivalent
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector and/or supporting services (preferred)
  • Knowledge of website support, data management (SQL queries and reporting, data warehousing) is a plus

  • Strong written, presentation and oral communication skills; able to simplify complex concepts
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and project management tools (e.g., Monday.com)

Hybrid role, two days per week in the office in Brooklyn, New York.
