Information System Security Engineer (ISSE)
We are seeking a highly skilled Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support the development and implementation of secure systems and solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity engineering, demonstrated experience integrating security into complex IT systems, and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
Role Responsibilities
- Capture, refine, and incorporate security requirements into the design and implementation of IT systems and projects.
- Design and develop secure information systems and architectures.
- Evaluate systems and ensure they meet security compliance and risk management standards.
- Collaborate with engineering and project teams to integrate security best practices across the system development lifecycle.
- Prepare technical documentation and contribute to security-related deliverables.
- Communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Education and Requirements
- BS/BA Degree in Cybersecurity or Computer/System Engineering from a U.S. accredited college, university, or institution
- 8 years of experience as a System Security Engineer
- Strong understanding of applying cloud security concepts in an AWS or Azure environment
- Experience applying security best practices to Kubernetes, Terraform, and cloud containers
- Experience capturing, refining and integrating security requirements into information systems or IT projects
- Understanding of the risk management framework
- Has excellent oral, writing, and team skills
Preferred Requirements
- Certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), with specialties in Information System Security Engineering, or Information Systems Security Architecture, and/or Information Security System Management; Professional or equivalent Certification(s);
Clearance and Location Requirements
- Able to be cleared for a Public Trust clearance.
- This job requires to be on-site 3 days/week in Washington, DC.
