Information System Security Engineer

Synovus Bank provides protection of employees, clients, property and assets through monitoring and utilization of electronic systems. Monitors alarm systems, fire detection, electronic access control, closed circuit television, GPS tracking and other automated building systems to deter and protect against fire, theft, burglary, vandalism, and all illegal and unauthorized activity.

Position Overview

The Security Systems Specialist is a highly technical, customer‑facing role responsible for monitoring, managing, and responding to security events across 400+ locations . This position operates within a fast‑paced Security Operations Center (SOC), requiring strong multitasking skills, professionalism, and the ability to navigate multiple systems simultaneously.

The ideal candidate is well‑spoken, friendly, and comfortable assisting employees with alarm, access, and security system issues. Prior experience in dispatch, operations centers, or security monitoring is highly preferred.

Shift & Schedule

This role requires willingness to work overnight hours .

Shift

• 6:45 PM – 6:45 AM
• Three 12‑hour night shifts + one 6‑hour shift weekly

Rotation

• Thursday–Sunday one month
• Monday–Thursday the next month
• Monthly rotation between the two schedules ("swamp back and forth")

Team Structure

• 3‑person team per shift in the Operations Center
• Potential to move to day shift based on seniority and future vacancies.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage security events across 400+ branch and corporate locations
• Operate seven security systems simultaneously , including:
• Video management systems
• Access control and access management software
• Alarm monitoring systems
• Respond to and support employees with alarming/disarming issues
• Provide clear, friendly, and professional customer service
• Dispatch and coordinate responses for security incidents
• Document events, actions, and communications using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
• Maintain situational awareness and elevate issues appropriately
• Follow industry‑standard security protocols and compliance requirements
• Collaborate with team members to ensure 24/7 operational coverage

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Experience in dispatch , operations center , or security monitoring
• Technical aptitude with security systems, access controls, and monitoring tools
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution‑focused under pressure
• Familiarity with basic security industry standards (or willingness to learn)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work overnight shifts consistently

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC)
• Knowledge of access management software and video surveillance systems
• Background in corporate security, alarm monitoring, or physical security technology
• Strong problem‑solving skills and comfort with high‑volume environments
