This role partners across campus to strengthen cybersecurity practices, monitor emerging threats, support incident response efforts, and promote a culture of security awareness and risk mitigation. This is an in-person position at the Point Loma campus.Salary: Pay range $34.03 - $36.06 Actual salary offered is determined by the candidate's experience, education, skills, and other factors, including internal equity and university funding resources.What We're Looking ForExperience supporting enterprise cybersecurity operations and infrastructure environmentsStrong understanding of cybersecurity principles, layered defense strategies, and risk management practicesAbility to identify vulnerabilities, assess risks, and recommend practical security solutionsExperience working with security technologies such as SIEM platforms, firewalls, endpoint protection, VPNs, or data protection toolsStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve complex technical problemsAbility to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiencesSelf-motivated professional who can manage priorities independently while collaborating effectively with a teamStrong documentation and organizational skills with attention to detailInterest in staying current with emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, and best practicesKnowledge and experience working with a diverse population is preferredWhat You'll Be DoingInstall, configure, maintain, and monitor cybersecurity tools and systems across the university environmentResearch and recommend new technologies and security solutions to improve protection and operational efficiencyParticipate in security risk assessments, vulnerability reviews, and mitigation planning effortsSupport vendor and third-party security reviews to ensure alignment with institutional security standards and compliance requirementsParticipate in incident response activities including detection, investigation, documentation, and coordination of remediation effortsContribute to the university's security awareness program through training, communication, and educational materialsAssist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of information security policies and proceduresCreate and maintain technical documentation including procedures, configurations, diagrams, and risk assessment recordsCollaborate with campus departments to strengthen understanding and adoption of security practices and policiesSupport testing and continuous improvement of the university's Security Incident Response Plan through exercises and documentation updatesWork with external vendors and technology partners to coordinate and implement secure services and solutionsConduct ongoing research into emerging threats and industry trends to proactively reduce institutional riskQualifications5 years of experience supporting and developing IT enterprise infrastructurePreferred certifications include ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC), Security+, CISSP, CEH, GSEC, GCTI, or CISMExperience in one or more of the following areas: security operations, incident response, vulnerability management, penetration testing, cyber threat intelligence, IT risk management, or vendor security assessmentAbility to balance team and individual work capacitiesExcellent ability to analyze and solve technical problemsOutstanding interpersonal communication skills, self-initiative, and teamwork are essentialThe ability to analyze emerging technologies and make recommendations for adaptationEvidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement.
