Essential Functions
- Manage day-to-day operations for the Infection Prevention and Control department.
- Participates in systematic reviews of Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Responsible for creation, submission and management of departmental budget.
- Facilitates investigation of less than average performance for process and outcome monitors related to infection prevention and control.
- Ensures and maintains accuracy of data and information.
- Monitors workload of assigned team and makes adjustments as necessary.
- Supervises new team member orientation.
- Develops and oversees the implementation of strategies to reduce infections at hospital facilities assigned.
- Ensures implementation of the infection prevention program at hospital facilities assigned.
- Monitors compliance with Infection Prevention and Control practice, and regulatory guidelines at facilities assigned.
- Act as a resource for Orlando Health managers, physicians, committees and outpatient facilities.
- Performs surveillance as needed.
- Manages various personnel functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
- Represents the director in his/her absence.
- Represents Infection Prevention and Control on committees and task forces as assigned.
- Actively seeks learning opportunities related to Infection Prevention and Control.
Qualifications
Education
- Master’s degree as a Registered Nurse, Medical Technologist, Public Health, or other healthcare sciences/administration.
Licensure/Cert.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology Inc – renewed every five years.
Experience
- Five (5) years of Infection Prevention and Control experience.
