Title
Infection Prevention and Control Manager
Position Summary
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Infection Prevention and Control Program, including staffing functions, surveillance oversight, committee assignments, education development, and policy review.
Education / Training
- Bachelor’s degree as a Registered Nurse, Medical Technologist, Public Health, or other healthcare sciences/administration required.
Licensure / Certification
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology Inc – renewed every five years.
Experience
- Five (5) years of Infection Prevention and Control experience required.
Essential Functions
- Manage day-to-day operations for the Infection Prevention and Control department.
- Participate in systematic reviews of Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Responsible for creation, submission, and management of departmental budget.
- Facilitate investigation of below-average performance for process and outcome monitors related to infection prevention and control.
- Ensure and maintain accuracy of data and information.
- Monitor workload of assigned team and make adjustments as necessary.
- Supervise new team member orientation.
- Develop and oversee the implementation of strategies to reduce infections at hospital facilities assigned.
- Ensure implementation of the infection prevention program at hospital facilities assigned.
- Monitor compliance with Infection Prevention and Control practice, and regulatory guidelines at facilities assigned.
- Act as a resource for Orlando Health managers, physicians, committees, and outpatient facilities.
- Perform surveillance as needed.
- Manage various personnel functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling.
- Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
- Represent the director in his/her absence.
- Represent Infection Prevention and Control on committees and task forces as assigned.
- Actively seek learning opportunities related to Infection Prevention and Control.
