Reporting directly to the ED, this role is equal parts organization, communication, and coordination — perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
The role supports a wide range of projects and tasks across administration, operations, fundraising, production, and communications and is an opportunity for someone to have a front seat to how an impactful and growing nonprofit is run.This position requires excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities. The position proactively anticipates and identifies the needs of the Executive Director and organization. The ideal candidate is excited by the opportunity to contribute to a growing nonprofit and shares our belief that economic inequality is a defining social justice issue of our time.This is a full-time, hourly (nonexempt) position based out of Inequality Media's Berkeley office with the opportunity to work from home one to two days per week. The salary range for this position is $70,000-$90,000Key ResponsibilitiesAdministrative & Operational Support & Communications:Serve as the right hand to the Executive Director (ED), helping drive organizational goals and priorities.Manage the ED's calendar, scheduling, and daily operations with precision and foresight.Coordinate logistics for weekly "Coffee Klatch" podcast featuring the ED and Prof. Robert Reich.Support production needs including handling logistics for team meals for monthly in-studio video shoots and other creative projects.Handle travel planning, expense reporting, and other operational tasks with efficiency and care.Draft, edit, and manage internal and external communications on behalf of the ED.Screen and respond to media inquiries, scheduling interviews with the ED and leadership team.Maintain key email inboxes and ensure timely, professional responses to outside inquiries.Provide high-level administrative and operational support, including occasional professional errands, as new opportunities arise.Office Management & Logistics:Maintain general office operations, including mail distribution, deliveries, and managing office suppliesTroubleshoot and resolve office-related issuesAssist with additional office tasks as neededQualificationsBachelor's degree preferredAdministrative office experience, internship acceptableExperience with fundraising or nonprofit organizations helpful but not requiredExcellent oral and written communication skills, including copyeditingStrong organizational and troubleshooting skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a small teamAbility to adapt to evolving priorities and deadlines while remaining calm under pressureProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets); Photoshop a plusExcellent technology skills; comfortable troubleshooting tech issues and learning new systems quicklyKnowledge of current events, politics, and economics helpfulRequirementsPassionate about Inequality Media's mission and impactProven track record of follow-through and accountabilityFlexibility and good humorIdeal CandidateThe ideal candidate will handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, balancing long-term projects with time-sensitive demands.
