Industrial Engineer
to join a client in Milpitas. This is a full-time, direct hire position. The role is 100% onsite.
The Industrial Engineer will support and optimize electronic manufacturing operations. This role will focus on improving production efficiency, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring high-quality output across SMT, THT, and PCB assembly processes. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams to scale operations, introduce new products, and enhance overall manufacturing performance.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Process Engineering
Optimize production processes, including line balancing, cycle time reduction, and labor efficiency
Design and improve workstations, tooling, and fixtures to enhance productivity
Support process setup, SMT/THT assembly, and resolve day-to-day production issues
Monitor and improve manufacturing performance using key KPIs (OEE, UPH, FPY, scrap rate)
Continuous Improvement (Lean / CI)
Lead and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including Kaizen, 5S, and Six Sigma (DMAIC)
Drive waste reduction and operational excellence projects
Perform time studies and workflow analysis to identify improvement opportunities
Quality & Yield Improvement
Improve soldering, PCB assembly, and testing processes
Utilize SPC and root cause analysis to reduce defects and improve yield
Support CAPA processes and ensure adherence to IPC standards
Monitor and improve customer-facing quality metrics
New Product Introduction (NPI)
Support the transition of new products from design to mass production
Ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and process readiness
Partner with engineering teams to resolve production issues during ramp-up
Capacity & Production Planning
Conduct capacity planning, takt time analysis, and headcount planning
Optimize factory utilization and production throughput
Supply Chain & Operations Support
Coordinate with supply chain teams on material flow, inventory optimization, and scheduling
Support production planning and ensure alignment with demand requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
Experience
5+ years in a manufacturing, process, or industrial engineering role
5+ years of experience in electronic manufacturing (SMT/PCB environment)
Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma (DMAIC)
Experience with time studies and work measurement techniques
Solid understanding of SMT/THT and PCB assembly processes
Proficiency in:
Excel (advanced)
Power BI or data visualization tools
SQL (preferred)
MES / ERP systems
Experience with AutoCAD or factory layout design tools
Strong capability in data analysis and KPI tracking
Deep understanding of production workflows and manufacturing systems
