The Industrial Electrical Shop Technician is responsible for constructing, maintaining, diagnosing, and troubleshooting industrial electrical equipment.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of commercial or industrial experience preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work with basic power tools
- Ability to use electrical testing equipment
- Strong attention to details
- Ability to perform writing, math, and measuring skills
- Ability to use a computer/tablet
- Ability to work independently and with others
- General mechanical knowledge
- Proactive individual
- Install switchgear and other electrical parts
- Recognize and report hazards
- Operate a forklift as needed
- Install breakers in panels
- Test functionality of electrical equipment
- Perform a variety of industrial electrical skills
- Use a variety of hand and power tools
- Report to and interact with Shop Foreman
- Flexible to work overtime when needed and to be on call
- Follow guidelines and requirements of the company safety manual and employee handbook
- Conducting safety inspections
- Coordinating and undertaking a range of maintenance activities within defined operating procedures
- May resolve/troubleshoot implementation problems
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of equipment as directed by his/her supervisor
- Prepare service reports within prescribed time periods
- Prepare various reports as directed to maintain accurate records on equipment and preventive maintenance
- Troubleshoot equipment failures
- Utilize mathematical formulas to determine both nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements
- Maintain thorough knowledge of and capability in reading and understanding schematics
- Maintain thorough knowledge of, actively practice, and promote safe working conditions in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and other required regulations dealing with safe operation of all equipment
