About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Automation / Controls Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Siemens TIA Portal and WinCC to join an established industrial automation and systems integration company in Hooksett, New Hampshire.

This is not a traditional plant Controls Engineer position where you will maintain the same production equipment every day.

You'll work across a variety of customer environments and automation projects from troubleshooting and improving existing machinery to developing complete controls solutions from the ground up.

Projects can range from tuning and troubleshooting an existing machine to starting with a blank project and designing, programming, testing, and commissioning the controls solution.

If you enjoy actually programming PLCs, building HMIs, commissioning equipment, solving automation problems, and owning projects technically, this is the type of role that offers substantial hands-on variety.

What You'll Do

* Develop and program PLC-based automation systems using Siemens TIA Portal and STEP 7
* Develop, configure, and modify **Siemens WinCC HMI systems**
* Create and modify PLC logic, sequences, interlocks, alarms, and controls functionality
* Develop HMI screens, tags, navigation, alarms, recipes, and related functionality
* Troubleshoot and improve existing automated machinery and control systems
* Develop new automation solutions from concept through implementation
* Integrate sensors, drives, actuators, instrumentation, and other field devices
* Work with industrial communication networks including Profinet, Profibus, and Ethernet/IP
* Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and functional specifications
* Perform system testing, startup, and commissioning
* Diagnose PLC/HMI and controls issues independently at customer sites
* Support equipment upgrades and modifications
* Document controls solutions and communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders
* Travel to customer locations for commissioning, troubleshooting, startup, and technical support

What We're Looking For

The most important qualification for this position is real, hands-on Siemens programming experience.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can describe automation projects where they personally programmed and developed the controls not simply maintained equipment containing Siemens hardware.

Required Experience

* Strong hands-on Siemens TIA Portal programming experience
* Strong hands-on Siemens WinCC HMI development/programming experience
* Experience with STEP 7
* PLC logic development, modification, testing, and troubleshooting
* HMI development and configuration
* Experience integrating field devices such as sensors, drives, and actuators
* Industrial networking experience such as Profinet, Profibus, and/or Ethernet/IP
* Hands-on equipment startup and commissioning experience
* Ability to independently troubleshoot automation and controls problems
* Ability to work from existing machine logic as well as develop an automation solution from the ground up
* Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, and functional specifications
* Strong communication and technical documentation skills
* Ability to work onsite in Hooksett, NH and travel approximately 4 8 weeks annually, in addition to local customer visits

Preferred Experience

* Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLC experience
* RSLogix and/or RSView experience
* Previous systems integrator experience
* Experience working across multiple customer or industrial environments
* Degree or technical education in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Controls, Mechatronics, or a related discipline

Equivalent hands-on industrial automation experience will also be considered.
