Indirect Tax Associate -- ComplianceThe responsibilities of the Indirect Tax Associate -- Compliance role will include the ability to review and manage multi-state monthly and quarterly sales tax returns, assist with the preparation of the use tax monthly computations and review drinks tax returns computations across all Westrock related entitiesJob Duties:Review and manage multi-state monthly and quarterly sales and use tax returnsAssist with the preparation of the use tax calculations across all companiesProvide support to the outside preparer of the Company's multi-state personal property tax returnsPrepare and review annual business licenses and monitor annual reports for multiple jurisdictionsPrepare and review occupational tax returnsReview customer exemption certificates and communicate with customers when corrections are warrantedUtilize Avalara Sales Tax Software, including Avalara Exemption Certificate ManagerGather information for sales and use tax audit inquiries in addition to property tax auditsCombine tax and technology knowledge to troubleshoot sales tax rates mattersPerform other duties as assignedHybrid schedule (remote at least 1 day per week) is available after onboarding/training period. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required for this role. An excel test will be administered by Westrock Coffee.Qualifications:Bachelor or associate degree in accounting or related field of studyFour or more years of relevant tax experience; or equivalent combination of education and experienceUnderstanding of sales and use tax compliance in multiple jurisdictionsStrong verbal and written communication skills to interact with employees and customers regarding tax mattersExperience with tax research toolsExperience with Avalara sales tax software a plusNetsuite experience is a plusManufacturing experience is a plusProficiency in Microsoft Excel & Access, experience with general ledger systems (JD Edwards Enterprise One or Oracle NetSuite, a plus)Ability to work in a team environmentAbility to work in a fast-paced environment in order to meet deadlinesStrong analytical skills and attention to detailExcellent time management skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple projectsEqual opportunity employer / vets / disabled
