In-House Litigation Counsel

Position

Full-Time, In-House Litigation Counsel Location: Encino, CA (Hybrid) Compensation: $300,000 - $450,000 base

About the Role

Privately held med-legal company seeks experienced trial attorney for in-house litigation counsel position. This is NOT a traditional General Counsel role focused on compliance and corporate governance. We need a proven courtroom litigator with recent trial experience who can handle sophisticated civil and business litigation matters independently.

Required Qualifications

• 15+ years post-bar experience
• Active California State Bar license in good standing
• Recent trial litigation experience
• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school
• Both plaintiff and defense litigation experience

Responsibilities

Primary (70% Litigation):

• Try cases in-house through trial and settlement
• Draft complaints, answers, discovery, and dispositive motions
• Conduct and defend depositions
• Argue motions in state and federal court
• Manage settlement negotiations and mediations
• Handle employment disputes, contract litigation, real estate matters

Secondary (30% General Counsel):

• Advise on business contracts and agreements
• Provide litigation risk assessment to leadership

What We're NOT Looking For

• Corporate/transactional attorneys without trial experience
• Attorneys whose last trial was 10+ years ago
• Attorneys who primarily manage outside counsel vs. trying cases
