I’m working directly with a stable, growing company that is hiring its first in-house attorney after years of relying exclusively on outside counsel.

This is a director-level, contracts-first role with direct access to the CFO, VP of Client Services, and broader executive team. Prior in-house experience is not required — but you do need to be comfortable independently owning the legal function and giving practical advice to business leaders.

5+ years of corporate or commercial experience

Strong commercial contracts drafting and negotiation skills

The confidence to operate as the company’s sole attorney

Sound judgment, independence, and a business-minded approach

They are not focused on academic pedigree, a particular law firm background, or whether you have already worked in-house. They care whether you can handle contracts and become a trusted partner to the business.

Commercial agreements will be the heart of the role, with broader responsibility for licensing and regulatory compliance, outside counsel and litigation management, privacy and data security, insurance, intellectual property, M&A support, employment matters, and cross-border issues as they arise.

Five days in office initially, with potential hybrid flexibility once fully integrated

$175,000–$185,000 base, with flexibility up to $200,000
