In-House Counsel, Operations and Regulatory

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to business units on operations, regulatory requirements, government affairs, and other legal matters
• Research, analyze and interpret insurance laws and regulations
• Collaborate with outside counsel and industry contacts on regulatory and government affairs issues
• Monitor, track and report on emerging legislation and regulations
• Research and write memoranda and other legal documents
• Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements
• Collaboratively works with other members of the Legal team to achieve optimal results for our business clients
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• At least three years prior experience working for a law firm or in-house legal department
• A JD from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
• Ability to solve problems and to provide practical, risk-based advice
• Common sense, good judgment, and solution-oriented attitude toward legal issues
• Prior insurance experience preferred but not required
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Ability to travel as needed
