Implementations/Activations Network Engineer IIThis position supports a combat support agency that provides IT and communication support to all institutes and individuals working for the U.S. Department of Defense. The Implementations/Activations Network Engineer will perform installation oversight, configuration, testing, monitoring, and servicing of network equipment and activation of networks for projects supporting Department of Defense networks.
This role is essential to providing the IT services necessary to carry out the day-to-day operation of the agency's network and related services.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform customer coordination, Initial Test and Acceptance (IT&A), and complete data input for new service activations.Work with customers, solution architects, and vendor SMEs to implement changes and resolve issues.Manage Service Orders in accordance with Change Management procedures.Ensure Telecommunication Service Orders (TSOs) are accurate for scheduled network changes.Initiate network device configurations using configlets and analyze databases to validate customer requirements.Design and implement solutions by testing, documenting, and modifying configurations on network devices.Coordinate customer circuit activation with commercial vendors for end-to-end connectivity.Monitor the network to assess the impact of deployed changes on customer traffic.Consult with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional requirements.Engage with project managers and customers to resolve issues with incomplete requirements.Required QualificationsEducation: Requires a BS degree and 2-4 years of prior relevant experience or a Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Experience: Experience with network services (BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN, VPN, VLAN, VRF, etc.) and network appliances (e.g., routers, load balancers, domain name servers, firewalls). Must have network engineering, problem management, and performance management experience.Technical Skills: Proficient knowledge of network hardware equipment specifications, configuration, and testing processes.
Knowledge of data and voice network design over various transmissions systems, router-to-router connections using military and commercial protocols such as BGP and ISIS, and switch-to-switch trunking including VLANS.Certifications: Must possess a DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).Preferred QualificationsPrior experience with the agency's systems and processes.Experience with SharePoint data entry and customer outreach.Experience with the agency's Request Fulfillment process and associated documents.Basic understanding of the Department of Defense, its policies, and hierarchy.Network certifications such as Cisco Certifications (CCNA, CCNP), Microsoft certifications (MCSE), or an ITIL certification.Everforth Apex is a world-class IT services company that serves thousands of clients across the globe.
