Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN)

The Critical Care Unit provides care for a diverse group of patients, including those with fresh open-heart surgeries and mixed ICU needs. It consists of 30 beds and aims for a high level of patient acuity and nursing involvement.

Certifications Required:

  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • PALS
  • NIHSS

Nurses will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to critically ill patients, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Additionally, nurses will take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test on the first day of assignment.

Patient-to-nurse ratios are typically 1:1 to 1:2, with 90% of shifts at a 1:2 ratio. Shifts are 12 hours, from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, with self-scheduling and schedules finalized 6 weeks in advance. Every other weekend commitment with no holiday requirements at present. Charge nurses will not take patient assignments.

New hires will undergo a 1-day floor-specific orientation. Nurses may be required to float to telemetry or medical-surgical units as needed.

Candidates must possess recent experience in caring for patients with fresh open-heart surgeries and have experience treating mixed ICU patient populations.

Telemetry monitoring is available. Ventilator support is required. Hospitalists are on-site 24/7. Pharmacy services are also available around the clock. Cancellation policy allows for the cancellation of up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.
