Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our ICU Nurse at CHI St. Vincent North, you’ll monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury, surgery, or life‑threatening disease. You’ll begin each shift by taking a report from a nursing teammate before making your rounds. You’ll provide continued care and perform procedures as detailed in the care plan, including assisting a physician with a chest tube or central line, providing wound care, ensuring patients receive necessary imaging, and administering medications.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need excellent multitasking and rapid‑response skills, maintaining focus and attentiveness while continuously monitoring patients and advocating for them when they cannot.

• Assess, plan, and implement nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
• Anticipate, identify, and respond to the informational and emotional needs of patients and families.
• Guide and direct healthcare personnel (e.g., Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients.
• Maintain knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (e.g., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, drainage devices) and utilize safeguards such as IV pump drug libraries and monitor alarms.
• Initiate emergency support measures (e.g., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patients from injury).
• Assist with patient care duties/tasks (e.g., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, and hygiene).

Requirements

• Registered Nurse: Arkansas license upon hire.
• Basic Life Support – CPR within 30 days.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 12 months.
• One year of acute care experience (new graduates or nurses who have never worked in an acute care setting will be hired through our residency training program).

Pay

$32.28 – $43.58 per hour
