Technician position is primarily focused on electrical systems reliability across all voltage classes, ensuring safe operation of plant and grid-connected equipment, with supporting responsibilities in instrumentation and control systems.You will contribute to our team by:Maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems across all voltage levels, including:High Voltage (HV): Switchyard equipment (breakers, disconnects, bussing, grounding systems)Step-up transformers and grid interconnection systemsProtective relaying systems and coordinationMedium Voltage (MV): 4 kV–15 kV switchgear, feeders, and distribution systemsLarge motors, feeders, and auxiliary systemsUnit auxiliary transformers and motor control centersLow Voltage (LV): MCCs, panelboards, lighting, and control power systemsMotor control circuits, HVAC, and balance-of-plant equipmentUPS systems, battery systems, and DC distributionPerforming inspection, testing, and maintenance of:Protective relays (SEL, GE, ABB, etc.)Breakers, switchgear, and transformersStation batteries, chargers, and emergency power systemsSafely executing and supporting electrical switching, clearances, and isolations, including:Developing and verifying LOTO boundariesSupporting or executing switching orders and system restorationVerifying absence of voltage and grounding for safe work conditionsSupporting plant reliability and grid performance, including troubleshooting electrical issues impacting generation outputProviding support to Instrumentation & Control systems, including:Calibration and troubleshooting of transmitters (pressure, flow, temperature, level)Maintenance of control valves, analyzers, and CEMS equipmentAssisting with DCS (Siemens) T3000 Turbine Controls and PLC-based control systemsExecuting preventive and corrective maintenance using Maximo, ensuring accurate documentation and work qualityReading and interpreting electrical one-lines, schematics, protection diagrams, wiring diagrams, and P&IDsSupporting planned outages, including contractor coordination, oversight, and QA/QC of electrical workEnsuring compliance with NERC, OSHA, arc flash, and electrical safety requirementsParticipating in root cause analysis (RCA) and implementing corrective actions for electrical and control system failuresSupporting plant upgrades and modernization projects, including relay replacements, electrical distribution improvements, and DCS upgradesWhat you will bring to the role:Education: High School Diploma or equivalent requiredJourneyman Electrician strongly preferredAdditional training in high-voltage systems, protective relaying, or instrumentation is highly desirableExperience and Skills:5+ years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance, preferably in power generation or heavy industryDemonstrated hands-on experience across: High Voltage (typically up to 500 kV switchyard systems), Medium Voltage distribution (4 kV–15 kV systems), and Low Voltage power and control systemsExperience with: Protective relays and electrical protection schemes, Switchgear, transformers, and motor control systems and Grid interconnection equipment and practices.Experience in combined cycle facilities, particularly GE 7FA units and steam cycle equipment, is highly desirableWorking knowledge of: Electrical system coordination and fault protection, VFDs, motor starting methods, and auxiliary systems, and Industrial communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.)Familiarity with: DCS platforms (Siemens T3000) and PLCs and CEMS and environmental monitoring instrumentationTechnical Skills:Strong troubleshooting capability across LV, MV, and HV systemsAbility to safely perform energized system awareness and de-energized verification practicesAdvanced understanding of arc flash, grounding, and electrical hazard mitigationProficient with CMMS systems (Maximo) and standard Microsoft toolsStrong communication and teamwork skills in a multi-disciplined team environmentHigh level of ownership, accountability, and attention to detailWorking Conditions:Heavy industrial facility designated as a safety-sensitive environmentRegular work in electrical rooms, MCC buildings, and outdoor switchyard environmentsRequires use of arc flash PPE and adherence to electrical safety proceduresPhysical requirements include walking, climbing, lifting, and working at heightsParticipation in callouts, overtime, and outage support is requiredAdditional Details:This position is covered by a union agreement with IBEW 769This
