Hydropower Solutions Engineer
HW3 is seeking an experienced Hydropower Solutions Engineer to help shape automation and control solutions for hydroelectric projects across the United States.
This is a customer-facing role combining deep hydropower expertise with solution design, technical proposals and strategic pursuit planning. You’ll work with customers, consultants, EPC contractors and internal teams on modernisation, rehabilitation and new-build projects.
What you’ll do
- Define project scope, technical requirements and execution strategies for complex hydro opportunities.
- Develop solutions involving plant controls, SCADA, DCS, PLCs, instrumentation and associated mechanical systems.
- Support proposals with technical approaches, estimates, risk assessments and value propositions.
- Present recommendations to engineering teams, customers and senior decision-makers.
- Build reusable tools, templates and standards to improve future project delivery.
What we’re looking for
- 10+ years’ experience in the hydroelectric power industry.
- A degree in engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of power-generation automation and control systems.
- Experience shaping complex technical pursuits and communicating with both technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Ability to travel up to 20% and authorisation to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.
Experience with EPC or design-build projects, turbine-generator systems, governors, excitation, protection systems and plant electrical infrastructure would be advantageous.
